He’s been inspired by a family of self-made success stories, particularly his Grandmother, who built her real estate business in the 1970’s. It was through her example that he understood the growth that comes with property ownership.
After purchasing his first home at twenty-two, he became fascinated by the buying and selling process: the variety, the architecture, the emotions, the excitement, and the unexpected.
Shane’s intimate knowledge of Portland’s neighborhoods, experience working with all types of homes from the mountains to the Oregon coast, as well as relocating and buying and selling his own homes, has afforded him a sensitivity towards his clients’ journeys.
He lives in the Hollywood district of Northeast Portland with his wife Jennifer and their cat Marley. When he isn’t helping clients, you may spot him biking to one of the cities’ best restaurants, or at a local record store looking to add to his collection.
His perfect Portland day: It would begin by biking to a leisurely brunch with good local coffee and a well-made cocktail. Then a stop at record store, or an antique shop, or maybe an art gallery, before a hike on one of Portland’s lovely urban trails. Then back into town for dinner at one of our city’s many great restaurants. Ending at bar to play some pinball, before the ride home.
His Superpower: The ability to feel equally at ease in diverse environments and among different people. Whether he's in a dive bar or a fancy restaurant, or working with spacious luxury homes or small fixer-uppers.
Superpower he wishes he had: To speak multiple languages. He’s always felt that those who do have the ultimate superpower.
Favorite moment in real estate: It is so satisfying for Shane to guide people through an important milestone in their lives. There are many favorite moments - from seeing the joy in buyers when he’s gotten their offer accepted, to providing clarity and relief to clients faced with selling a family member’s home, though the best part is the lasting friendships he’s gained from his clients.
Favorite Portland neighborhood, and why?
Portland has many distinct and wonderful neighborhoods, but if he could live anywhere in the city, it would be Ladd’s Addition. The streets are lined with beautiful old-growth trees, in front of stately, historic craftsman homes. It feels peaceful and private, though it’s in the heart of the city, just across the river from downtown. It is super bikeable and easy to get to the best of Portland.
